President Muhammadu Buhari approving fresh plots to remove Senate President Bukola Saraki, and Speaker Yakubu Dogara this coming Tuesday.
Opposition parties under the umbrella of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of approving fresh plots to remove Senate President Bukola Saraki, and Speaker Yakubu Dogara this coming Tuesday.
The Senate, which had earlier gone on recess after the conduct of the 2019 elections, had called for a plenary this Tuesday following the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, by President Muhammadu Buhari last Friday.
But CUPP’s first national spokesperson, Imo Ugochinyere, said in a statement in Abuja on Sunday, that the Buhari-led executive arm of government after the “judicial coup” now wants to takeover the National Assembly immediately.
“The judicial coup which they believed was supposed to be more difficult went very easily beyond their imagination, hence the need to complete the takeover of the National Assembly immediately so that the distraction of the election campaigns will be put to use.”
According to Ugochinyere, the Federal Government had allegedly earmarked “$70,000 for each senator and $40, 000 for each member of the House of Representatives” to execute the alleged plot to sack the leadership of the National Assembly.
